There’s no need to scroll on Instagram any longer as we’re here to help with your wedding make up ideas! If you can’t decide between super dramatic lashes, a classy cat-eye or a blushing bride look, we’re sure all eyes will be on you!
Natural & Glowy
This is the go-to for many brides, especially for the ones who are not used to wearing makeup often. This classic look highlights and enhances all the features you have! This look is made up of beautiful and natural tones on the skin and lips and a slight bit of enhancement (whether that be through a different colour eyeshadow or acute, winged eyeliner) on the eyes.
If you want to keep your eyes natural, add a swipe of peach or pink to your lips for an amazing wedding day makeup up. If you’re getting married in the summer, keep your skin sun-kissed and add some subtle highlighter to the highpoints of your face to have all eyes on you!
Copper/gold tones are also a must-have to create a natural and growly look especially if you’re getting married outdoors and the inevitable golden hour will sure work in your favour. A touch of sheer gloss to the lips and a surprise pop of a metallic shade is a classic look. Brush a gel through your eyebrows to keep them fluffy and to ensure the hairs do not move all night!
Contour & Earthy Tones
Neutral and earthy tones have become super popular over the past year and we’re seeing more and more brides incorporate them into their looks. If you don’t want to go full-on Smokey eye, add a cool or warm-toned brown and pair it with a sharp contour to make a killer look for your big day! Earthy tones are universally loved and will be a forever classic while you look back on your photos
The drama really is all in the eyes and create a perfect monochromatic look when paired with the right contour and a deep mauve toned lip colour. Match the mauve with a pink-toned blush to warm up your cheeks and to have the ultimate blushing bride look
Earthy tones are perfect for an evening wedding and paired with a winged liner really will make you look like the belle of the ball.
Dramatic & Bold
Charcoal grey and a sharp or smudged eyeliner are a beautiful combination fit for any bride. Smudged eyeliner is for a bride who wants to be the ultimate cool girl on their day and makes a statement. Be sure to apply the shadows first as it will be easier to remove before you have your concealer and foundation on. Team it with matte flawless skin and if you’re feeling extra bold, pair it with burgundy or pink toned gloss.
Wedding Make Up
Wedding make up will on average take around 30-45 minutes for each bridesmaid and approximately 60-80 minutes for the bride. This may be too much time but its always a good idea to overestimate timings on the wedding day so you’re not rushing and can enjoy the morning of the wedding
The cost of wedding make up varies depending on where you live in the U.K. and on the experience of the make up artist. But on average wedding make up costs range between £180 – £450 this would include a make up trial. The Trial isn’t a necessity but we would highly advise it as you do not want to go into your wedding day not knowing what your make up will look like.
This is completely up to the bride and budget! Budget plays a huge factor in deciding who pays for the bridesmaids make up. The bride may decide to pay for make up and ask the bridesmaids to pay for their hair or vice versa.
The bride may also decide to pay for it all or none of it.
It’s a good idea to let your bridesmaids know from the beginning of the planning process what you plan to do about this, it will save any cross wires, awkward situations and give the bridesmaids time to budget if they need to.
Bridal make up does cost more than occasion make up. This is because of a few different factors:
- The time spent with the bride is higher, emails, text messages, phone calls etc
- The level of service expected of wedding make up is a lot greater than occasion make up
- Travel costs, usually the make up artist will travel to the bride the morning of the wedding
- Time. More time is spent on applying bridal make up than occasion make up
