For those who can’t get hold of an MUA (or are just trying to keep the cost low)
No matter your style of makeup your wedding day is the chance to try something out of your comfort zone to make you feel like the best version of yourself. This isn’t just any ordinary day, it’s the day in which all eyes will be on you so it’s important your makeup looks amazing in real life and in photos!
Skincare Before Anything
Skincare should always be the first step before you do any makeup look but it’s a crucial step when doing bridal makeup. Perfecting a skincare routine months before your day is always a good idea to achieve that super glowy and long-lasting look. Make sure you stick to this skincare routine to get the best results for your day.
If your budget allows for a little wriggle room, you could even splurge on a facial, great skin is the best canvas for any sort of makeup look and for your wedding day all you want to do is the best thing you could possibly do. Aim for at least three or four before the big day. On the day prep your skin with a hydrating mask to ensure your makeup doesn’t budge throughout the day.

After going in with a moisturising mask next step is to go in with a thin layer of primer. Primer is a crucial step for your bridal makeup as it makes your makeup last all day and night. It fills any large pores and smooths any lines. Different primers are made for different skin textures so choose one which is right for you.

Practice Anytime You Can
There will be a multitude of stress on your day and by practicing your look is one thing to take of that list. Even if your super savvy at makeup don’t wait until the day of your wedding to try out the look. Once you’ve achieved the look you want document all the products you used and take notes on different techniques you used as well.
For an extra boost of confidence, you can book a virtual appointment with a brand. It’s a great way for you to see how a makeup artist operates and it’s a chance to be introduced to new products you might not have used before. And of course, you could also use YouTube. So many beauty youtubers have documented their own makeup looks for you to choose from.

Wear More Than You Normally Wear
You want you makeup to look amazing in photos, so your normal techniques wont quite cut it, you need to be doing makeup which is meant for photos. This may be scary but for photography purposes more is more. Add colour to your lips will stop you from looking flushed out, blush will also stop you from looking flushed out in your photos.
